This FOSDAL COLLECTION is a new database offered by the DODGE/JEFFERSON COUNTY GENEALOGY SOCIETY (DJCGS) to our on-line researchers.
A collection of 200,000 plus, 3” x 5” index cards has been donated to DJCGS, by John and Roberta Fosdal, which we have digitized and made available to researchers as a source of details that may otherwise be un-locatable or just not available from any other means. Details such as births, deaths, baptisms, churches attended, cemeteries, where someone is buried, burial dates, wedding dates, wedding witnesses, Pastors performing the ceremonies, mothers, fathers, causes of deaths, where they lived, where they died, who shot who, when someone moved away, when they arrived in USA, or arrived in a certain community, where they lived, cousins, aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces, and many more sometimes interesting details too many to identify here.
This FOSDAL COLLECTION is easy to use, easy to move from search to print and easy to get around in the system.

A great deal of THANKS to those volunteers that have had anything to do with the years of work involved in the capture of all these sometimes-forgotten bits of information.
How to Use the Fosdal Collection:
- Once the search page is open, select a name to enter in the box above the blue Search tab.
- You can decide how many results per page you wish to view, 10 – 100, default is at 10.
- Press the blue “Search” box and your results will tabulate.
- If you have results, they will list the name, date, event, miscellaneous information, and the card number.
- The card number is in blue underline, which means it is a hyper-link. If you press the hyperlink, it will take you to the digital image of the card. At that screen, you can view the information, download it or print it out. If not interested in those choices, click the X in the upper right corner to close the screen and return to the first page of the FOSDAL COLLECTION.
TIPS: If you do not get a hit on Smith, try the same word without the comma, Smith
Also try different spellings.
