2006 D/JCGS LIBRARY COURSE:

“Getting Acquainted with the D/JCGS Library”

This class to learn of our Library's resources is for members of the Society and is being offered again this spring.  Tentative dates for the 3-session course are April 22, April 29, and May 6, 2006. Registration is with Elizabeth Haban/The Society and will be cutoff on April 8th, 2006.

A great number of new resources have been added these past several years. Those attending will select from a list of topics which may be more pertinent to their needs. Time will be allowed to pursue these needs within the framework of the 9-11 AM Saturday schedule and continue to noon if desired.

A frequently heard comment in our genealogical library is, "Oh, I didn't know we had that."

The time had come to learn to use the many tools that we have.

The course touches on all segments of our collection and is a hands-on learning session.  It looks into those "how-to" books, delves into mysteries of gazetteers and maps that are in our collection, finds all the sources for information on a surname being searched, checks out those circuit court records and abstract books for what they can reveal to us.

The course is taught by Elizabeth Haban, society librarian, and Doris Quinn, society secretary.
