Jefferson Banner

May 23, 1987

JEFFERSON — The Jefferson Banner told its readers in this week’s issue that it is suspending publication after next week’s issue is published.  In a simple boxed announcement on the front page of today’s issue of the Banner, Jerry and Betty Tennyson, co-publishers of the paper, said, “We regret that due to conditions beyond our control the 127-year-old Jefferson Banner will suspend publication with the May 28 issue.  We have enjoyed our brief tenure as co-publisher of the Banner and we will still retain all the rights to the name Jefferson Banner and its good will.”  The paper has been an institution in the county seat for many years.  For a long time it was published by Horace and Noni Buri.  They continue to live in Jefferson and Buri serves as a member of the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors.
