Boomer School was started on June 15, 1868. The land for the school was donated by Mr. Boomer, who was called Esquire. He got the land directly from the United States Government. Two of the first students at this school were Bion D. Kellom and Effie May Wiggins. They later married each other and are the great grandparents of Tom and Phyllis Kellom. Effie May Wiggins lived on the farm owned by Kent Ganske. The brick school was constructed in the late 1800's and still stands.
