Mrs. Parker and Hobkirk went for a ride one day
With a blind old horse and a one-horse shay
The horse ran away, buggy broke on a fence,
And we haven’t seen Mrs. Parker since.
(Composed just after being punished by the teacher)
The Devil flew from North to South,
With our teacher, Josh Thomas, in his mouth;
And when he saw that he had a fool,
He dropped him here to teach our school.
