History
The Dodge/Jefferson Counties Genealogical Society, Inc. was organized in 1981 under the name of “Watertown Genealogical Society.” To better define its area of research, the society changed its name and incorporated under the category of an educational organization in January 1995.
Purpose
The purpose of this Society is to assist others in learning how to research their family history and to purchase books, microfilm, microfiche, and other research material of genealogical value.

Mission Statement: The objectives of the Dodge/ Jefferson Counties Genealogical Society (D/JCGS) are to collect exchange and preserve genealogical materials; to inform and assist the general public about genealogy; and to purchase materials of a genealogical value to be housed in the Society’s library in Watertown, Wisconsin. Any person who is interested in genealogy may become a member upon the payment of dues. Membership and its benefits shall not be denied because of race, religion, creed, sex or national origin.
